Below is a photo of the front facade, taken a couple of weeks ago…the big tree on the left is now gone and you can finally see this beautiful home. Good work S. P.!

S.P. – if i were you, i think i’d get in touch with this richard guy to help you… seems like he is pretty passionate about your house even way before you bought it

I just was sent this listing by a friend, I am so happy such a superb house is being renovated. Congrats to the new owners!

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Staton a couple of days ago. She is a lovely woman who indeed has as much interest in the house as I do. I applaud her for such a vast undertaking as this wonderful home which has kept my interest for so long. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance on any projects, such as painting, landscaping, or whatever else I can do for you. I would love to help you in any way that I can. My email is redsockscap@aol.com.

Thank you!

The house is finally sold to a Mr. S.P. Staton. There have been some signs of renovation and I look forward to seeing the completed project.

Tony, 4109 has been sold. The current owners are cleaning out the house of all the rubbish that was left behind (a huge undertaking to say the least). I tried to pull up the current tax assessment records but they have not been updated from when Mr. Schneider and Mrs. Saufley owned the house.

HAS THIS PROPERTY BEEN SOLD YET? IF NOT, HAVE THE OWNERS TO CONTACT ME @ 412-992-6589 OR 910-257-2490. I’LL MAKE SURE IT’S TAKEN CARE OF PROPERLY. TD

The open house last Sunday brought out quite a crowd, many of which I’m sure were neighbors that wanted to see the interior for themselves. Most of the people climbing through the cloisters of the house were investors or rehabbers. Hopefully someone won’t do a covered-up half done renovation on the house.

Has anyone that’s visited this site put in a contract? From the updated MLS the agent is submitting offers on Monday 8/20 with a response on Tuesday 8/21. Hopefully the sign will read “SOLD” on Wednesday, which would be a welcomed sight on Forest Hill Ave. indeed.

If you did put in a contract, good luck…I look forward to seeing it completed!

...so are you going to buy it or not???

I live two blocks over and let me just tell you we HATE this place and have affectionately named it the “Rat Trap”. You’ve really done your homework on it. I think it belonged to Mr. Schneider’s parents. Anyway, they need to let it go!

checked your page on this place and drove past this today to check it out. house is great..i think you’ve kind of lost your mind though for a first home. it needs EVERYTHING. 4,000 to clear the yard alone. with a tax assess. at 209K there is no way they could even get half of that in this condition.

and they won’t sell it to you????? that’s their loss that someone cares and they are ignorant enough to let it sit there

Still no reply from the owners. I’m going to give it two more tries. However, in the upcoming two weeks, I am dropping a letter and CAPS Complaint Form in mailboxes to the residents of the 4100 block of Forest Hill Avenue and Springhill Avenue (Springhill Ave. the street that runs behind 4109).

If you would like to support my cause, please print the CAPS Complaint Form PDF file from http://www.richmondgov.com/forms/forms/comdev/CAPSComplaintForm.pdf. The more focus and support that I can put on this matter, the better!

From what I’ve recently gathered, Animal Control is at the house frequently to address the issue of rats and racoons from invading the neighboring properties. The city also sends a somewhat reoccuring citation to the owners to keep the grass mowed.

I have made one attempt to reach Mr. Schneider and Mrs. Saufley regarding the house. I am not looking to purchase it and sell it off for a profit. It would be (besides and extreme undertaking) my first home that I would own instead of renting. It pains me that it just sits there and rots to the ground. The only connection I can think of is that they are writing off the personal property taxes as a second residence.

It sort of has a romantic Grey Gardens appeal to me…anyone else agree?

Here are two pictures of 4109 Forest Hill Avenue. It’s a shame that it has been let go for so long. It truly could be a beautiful home if it was restored. I would be curious to hear your comments if you are a homeowner around the premises.
