for choosing to make a quick profit on the sale of this 1880s farm house, which he has now covered with vinyl siding. Mr. Prasad also covered one of the second story windows – I guess he is working hard to keep this house on the market for as long as he can – I cannot imagine anyone would purchase the house now that he has made 518 N. 25th a permanent vinyl-clad eyesore.
The building permit application was sadly dated a few weeks shy of the Church Hill North Old and Historic District designation that would have protected the house from this estate ‘investor’(who is also on the board of Virginia Supportive Housing!!!) Mr. Prasad recieved a private consultation on historic tax credits which would benefit the neighborhood and his sale price if he followed the old & historic restoration guidelines. Instead of following the neighborhood’s architectural preservation and restoration initiative, Mr. Prasad decided a quick profit on the sale of this house was a better choice than adding affordable property for sale or for rent in church hill, or maintaining the existing architectural integrity of Church Hill North Old and Historic District
with basic, inexpensive and common rules of design, form and function, even the worst of the ‘jack-leg-flipper-contractors’ ‘renovate’ property without detracting from neighborhood asthetics. i cannot imagine what this house is like inside – every bit of old growth wood in this 19th century house was thrown into a big dumpster and hauled away with the windows, doors and likely everything 100+ years that was worth saving. i give it 5 years before Mr. Prasad’s ‘renovation’ shows just how little quality, integrity and workmanship mattered – THANKS RAVI!!!
